Board of Appeals


Role
 

The Board of Appeals hears and decides variances, special exceptions, cases involving non-conforming uses and appeals of departmental administrative decisions.  All decisions are based strictly on standards in the Development Regulations.  The Board meets on the third Tuesday of each month, 6:00 at Town Hall located at 39 N. Hickory Avenue, when action is required.

The Standard on Bond application is not currently scheduled for Board of Appeals. 

Composition

The Board of Appeals is a five member body appointed by the Board of Town Commissioners to three-year terms. The board acts in a quasi-judicial role as dictated by the State of Maryland Article of the Maryland Annotated Code. Members must be a town resident and serve without compensation.
