Walking & Cycling
Ma & Pa Trail
The MA & PA Heritage Trail is a scenic walking and cycling path designed along the old alignment of the Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad with a goal to preserve the memory of the historic rail transportation route from York to Baltimore. The Williams Street Trailhead Station of the Ma & Pa Trail is centrally located in the Town of Bel Air between the Edgeley Grove Park (Annie’s Playground) Trailhead Station and the North Avenue Trailhead Station. Information on the five sections of the trail can be found on the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail website.
Currently, the Town is working with Harford County Parks & Recreation and several landowners to connect sections of the trail which will lead to a nearly 8-mile long trail that will run through Bel Air.

The ultimate goal is to provide the community and visitors with a safe, efficient means of movement around Town. Future walking paths, cycling routes and alternative transportation options are based on the goals and objectives of the Town Comprehensive Plan to provide for a more walkable and bike friendly community. These efforts will result in fulfilling a comprehensive vision coordinated with Maryland State Highway Administration and Harford County.
